The new halfwits of politics

The new halfwits of politics

The launch of proceedings of the new parliament cannot be remembered for anything out of ordinary and we cannot blame the Assembly Speaker for this, nor can we blame the usual old boring debate that takes place on the government’s program, nor can the expensive dresses that women MPs wear, the expensive watches and the expensive jewelry. We’re used to all of that and they no longer impress us.

The new MPs were the shining stars. The new arrivals who have been bestowed the title “fathers of the nation” at the age of 20. What a remarkable achievement! With a few exceptions, they can be considered as halfwits and we must admit that they have met all the criteria that inspired the drafters of the lists for these new arrivals. And we saw these halfwits all over the house of parliament. But, with a very small number of MPs, 43 in total and when a number of distinguished names are now lacking, this group of kids seems to be more noticeable at the Democratic Party.

Berisha must have felt really bad when he saw this group which seemed as if it was heading to a parliamentary picnic and not to play the role of opposition. This seems to have hurt him more than the votes that were awarded to Ruçi by his party MPs to be elected as speaker of the Assembly. This is why the first statements that he made after what happened within the DP, the serious defeat in the elections and the criticism addressed against chairman Basha by the old figures of the DP for his responsibility in the elections and the race for the post of the chairman which lacked transparency, were filled with bitterness. It’s really sad what we see in parliament, where the opposition battle seems to lack ideas. Nevertheless, he still defends Basha. Although he considers him responsible for the defeat and blames him for not consulting with the party’s forums about the candidate lists, the former leader of the DP does not position himself against his prodigé, But what Berisha cannot stand is the quality of the new Members of Parliament who have replaced Patozi, Topalli, Imami or Bode. Their appearance in Parliament mostly showed that they’re not worth a penny and with these kinds of representatives, we don’t expect to see much opposition, knowing full well that Rama is clear on his political strategies and how to attain his objectives.

If Rama can be tolerated for selecting halfwits with the aim of performing well, he already has his close collaborators with which he has won political battles. But for the DP which has only seen regression in the recent years, the arrival of these halfwits can only lead to collapse. Unknown and without contributions, inexperienced in politics and promoted by their businesses or the daddy with deep pockets, one cannot expect miracles from them, even less, opposition making, debates and growing support for the opposition within voters.

Berisha is well aware of all this, but he can do nothing, but suffer when he sees how those who are now wearing the DP’s “jersey” are mocked and laughed at. Now we have a different opposition party. The DP is chaired by someone else and this person also has the responsibility of the direction that the party takes and the people that he appoints. The most Berisha can do is to intervene in favor of some old member of his staff to get on the boat. As far as the others who remain on the shores are concerned, he will just wave his hand like a retired tourist who visits his old property.
