New electoral map, Albania becomes purple
A big victory by the Socialist Party. Rama to govern with a majority of 73 MPs. The Democratic party suffers a big defeat ,while SMI registers a slight growth

The result of the general parliamentary elections clearly speaks of a victory for the Socialist Party, which has dominated since the start of the ballot counting. In the end, the Socialist Party has obtained 73 seats and can govern on its own, as Prime Minister Rama had demanded during the entire campaign. The Democratic Party has remained second, but with a significant difference: Only 43 seats. The Socialist Movement for Integration has ranked third with 19 seats, while Party for Justice, Integration and Unity obtains 4 seats. A single seat has been secured by Tom Doshi in Shkodra under the logo of the Social Democratic Party. These results belong to midnight, while counting continued in several districts.

The democrat strongholds

The Democratic Party has only managed to win in two districts, out of 12. They are Kukes and Shkodra, which have historically been considered as right wing strongholds. In Kukes, the DP has obtained two seats, while the third one has gone to the SP, while in Shkoder, the situation is a little more complicated. The DP leads with 5 seats against 4 seats of the SP, but two other seats have been won by SMI and SDP, both left wing parties. So, the left wing has even won in Shkoder with 6 seats against five seats of the right wing, although they are divided by different political forces.

The race in two other districts of the north, Dibra and Lezha has ended in a draw. In Lezha, the SP and the DP have secured 3 seats each, while the last seat has been won by SMI, making this district a left wing district. Even in Dibra, the DP and SP have won an equal number. Meanwhile, in all other districts, the Socialist Party has won more seats.
