Premier Rama: Small sized businesses will pay VAT
Next year, in 2018, small businesses will continue to be exempted from tax, nevertheless, they could be subject to Value Added Tax (VAT). This was declared yesterday by Prime Minister Edi Rama as part of the so called tour of consultations with the public on the 2018 budget. “We have just started the intensive battle against informality. We will include all businesses in the VAT regime”, Rama said.

Meanwhile, the PM has added that the fight against informality has now entered a new phase and that a new cadastral office will be set up, to act as a modern data base. On the other hand, the head of the Albanian government said that next year, a 5% economic growth will be aimed.  “The current 4% economic growth could have not been fathomed four years ago. But our ambition is to take that growth to over 5%”, he added. Meanwhile, Rama said that the new government doesn’t give up on the “1 billion for reconstruction” project, although three days ago, the International Monetary Fund has warned the government that public debt may increase by 7% if this project is implemented.

“Within a few weeks, we will sign the contract and works will start for the construction of the Road of Arber.  We will also reconstruct the road segment linking Rrogozhina, Fier and Vlora and we will complete the missing segments of the road that links Tirana to Lezha, Kukes and Kosovo, but also the other part that links Shengjin to Velipoja and Ulcinj”, the PM said regarding the project.
