Albania and Greece to honor war martyrs every year on 28 October

Every year on 28 October, Albanian authorities, in cooperation with Greek authorities, will commemorate through an official ceremony those who fell during the war.

This ceremony will take place each year and it has been decided as part of the decision taken by the Council of Ministers of Albania “for the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of Greece for the search, exhumation, identification and the burying of Greek soldiers fallen in Albania during the Greek-Italian war 1940-1941 and the construction of a final resting place for them within the territory of the Republic of Albania”.

The government’s decision says that “based on paragraph 8 of article 1 of the agreement, the ministry of Defence will collaborate with the Greek side to organize the official ceremonies in commemoration of the war martyrs each year on October 28th”.
