Where did the EU officials go?

It’s been several days that we don’t seem them. We don’t see Mrs. Mogherini, we don’t see Mr. Fleckenstein, we don’t MEP Kukan and we don’t see ambassador Vlahutin. The TV networks have “switched off” their screens, not specifically for them, but because reporters can no longer catch them around. It seems like one of those moments when you have turned the air ventilation on… and when you switch it off, all of a sudden you realize what you had done. “What was all that noise?!”

But where did they go now? It’s been many days that we haven’t had them around. Since the 90th day of the Tent, to be accurate. We got used to them, the same as we get used to the air ventilation.

How did this new “era” of our social climate with the EU envoys begin, which according to the terminology used by western analysts are being called the “bureaucrats” of Europe, or “establishment” or even the “liberals”!? Now, they may seem “annoying” to us, as they recently did. And it’s not only the fact that Albanians now somehow feel “relieved” from the complexes about foreigners and Europeans. And it’s not even the fact that Albanians are now more mature in terms of their democratic behavior and they cannot expect to receive everything like birds in the nest.

The noise that was caused by the officials who were sent by the EU for the solution of our political crisis, was exaggerated up to that point that it now seems as if our “ears finally found some peace”. Although the political crisis has not been solved completely, they are no longer here. Although the conflict within the party has reached its peak, they are no longer here. Now that can say that this is “an internal affair”, but in fact, the Tent, for which they came here, was also an internal affair. Those who participated in the opposition’s rally were stigmatized, but even then they could not find any words to say. Had this happened in Syria, Mrs. Mogherini would certainly have spoken.

But where did they go?

Truth be told, even when they were here, they weren’t really. The stances of the EU envoys on our political crisis were almost individual. Fleckenstein defended a group within the Albanian politics which belongs to Soros, because he is also one of the most important figures of Soros’ Open Society.

Mrs. Mogherini manifested the same strong left wing stances that she had manifested in her youth, when she didn’t accept the EU as a “creation”. Mr. Kukan, although a right wing politician, belongs to the Soviet Union school. Ambassador Vlahutin is a missionary who is entirely on the government’s side and this has been manifested quite clearly. The EU’s envoys were here, but they were unable to solve anything.

The EU itself is now an institution in crisis, which is unable to solve crises. Even less in Balkan countries, where Russia’s invisible hand tries to offer its own solutions.

The US diplomat, Hoyt Yee, who turned into a decisive force for the solution of the crisis, underlines in an interview given from Belgrade that “it is very important that Russia complies with the international law obligations” in regards to Western Balkans. But neither the EU envoys, nor the EU itself could do this. What the EU failed to do, was done by the USA, meaning, even the solution of the crisis.

Then, why did the EU envoys have to come here again following the failure that we saw?!

There are also other reasons why they are no longer here:

The climate is changing here and this climate is surely not suitable for the envoys that had arrived here. Within the government there are several ministers sent by the Opposition and this ruins the comfort of several people due to some favors that they’re being given. Or due to the fact that the EU envoys consider themselves to be “saviors” of Albania.

Relation with the truth has also changed. The EU ambassadors and other envoys cannot articulate the real truths of the country, although they are often seen in airports, offices and TV screens. Now it is too late to talk about them. Is it not true that for a year in a row, nobody said a word about the massive cultivation of drugs in the country?! Although the drugs travelled toward the EU citizens, they couldn’t say any words about it.  There are many theories on why the EU employees decided not to say anything, but what is done is done now. Now, there’s no longer a climate of mutism. Today, we’re seeing the punishment of the first Albanian official who attempted to participate in the electoral campaign. But what will happen if an EU “envoy” who is involved with drugs and its profits, is caught?

The climate has changed, this is why “hunters” no longer migrate. Now we’re merely observing that they are no longer among us and we are thankful that our ears have finally found some peace.
