New 10 thousand lek banknote expected to be issued

Oversight Committee of the Bank of Albania has decided to approve today the emission of the 10000 lek banknote, which will have on it the portrait of the poet who wrote the lyrics of the National Anthem, Asdreni. “This banknote will have the portrait of the renowned Albanian poet, Asdreni, on it, combined with symbols of the national flag and a verse selected from the National Anthem”, the Bank of Albanian announced.

Up until now, the largest banknote that the Bank of Albania has issued is the 5 thousand lek banknote. Throughout the years, the central bank of the country has constantly emitted higher value banknotes in an attempt to reflect rising prices throughout the years.
