President asks Bosnia to recognize Kosovo
President of Albania, Ilir Meta has called on Bosnia and Herzegovina to accept reality and acknowledge the fact that Kosovo is an independent and sovereign country.

Meta addressed this request at the Southeast Europe Cooperation Process summit which is taking place in Sarajevo.

Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama refused to take part in this summit, because Kosovo was not invited as a state.

“How can we pretend we have a successful regional cooperation when some of the members of this process are working to exclude some countries”, Meta said.

The Albanian president also said that time has come for Kosovo to be recognized as an independent and sovereign country, because, according to him, respect for neighbouring countries is a necessity for Western Balkans.

Meta said that regional initiatives are strengthening internal dialogue in the region and security.
