A LITTLE BLUE AND… COMMUNISM

It seems to me that the sin that was done with the symbols of the Democratic Party was actual a sin. Besnik Trungu, who designed the logo of the Democratic Party and its newspaper at the end of 1990, as we know it, would have been exasperated. At that time, the painter used the clear blue sky color. It’s been a while that Besnik lives in Italy and he cannot understand what we are doing here with the blue symbol. This time, in the election campaign, we saw the introduction of some red colors, almost a blood like color, and another symbolic concept. The democrats went to vote, but they could not find their known symbol, so they “went back home”.

According to some tough critics of the leader of the Democratic Party, this is how this party suffered such a big defeat in the parliamentary elections. The logo was a very particular element of the Democratic Party, since it was born, as an anti-communist right wing political party. I have public said in several occasions that the Democratic Party is forgetting its anti-communist “origin”, but the latest elections showed that voters are no longer finding their “color”.

A few words on the mixture of communism and this blue color… People would say that only here, in the anti-communist Democratic Party, there is no communism. I have also been mistaken in a few occasions with this paradigm. Sometimes, I even liked the idea of “being mistaken”… But, here we are: The DP suffered such a big defeat that some of its founders and activists said that “we feel ashamed in front of the nation”.

But communist signs continue to expand in the blue of the Democratic Party…

Those who speak of the causes of the defeat, would intimidate the painter of the logo, Besnik Trungu and he would have never painted it blue.

Let’s see that they say:

One of them: “The responsibility for the loss belongs to everyone”

During the period of the communist regime, this was the expression that everyone used when speaking of responsibility. Why was this done? It was done to escape prison, so the finger was never pointed toward the responsible person. It was done to show submission toward the true responsible person. It was done to cover responsibility and to walk toward the abyss with the eyes shut. But what happened after this? After this, something worse happened. After this, he who said that “we are all responsible”, he could deliver collective punishments.

Another one: “Those who were not satisfied, did not do a good job!”

I was very surprised by this terrible reasoning,  that takes me back to the era that the Democratic Party defeated. During that era where values did not exist, you, as a person, did not have any value; nobody had a value individually. The terrible system of dictatorship that turned people into numbers, was against nature. Shall we envy it again today? Must we follow the idea that “if you don’t satisfy me, I will be satisfied”? Terrible. If the party or the leader, has made several people happy or made “enemies”, what will they do? They should jump and sing from joy because they’re in the leader’s heart, even as enemies?! You cannot make enemies in the party and you cannot make people unhappy, because then you will be the dictator. Or, if you’re unable to keep everyone “happy” within the party, then you’re incompetent as a leader.

A third one says: “Hey you, the old ones… your time is gone”

Among the old ones who have disappeared from the lists of the DP, everyone is older than 40. And this is the age of the now “frozen” leader. The age criterion is a criterion of eliminating opponents, the same as the criteria of gulags, Catholics, etc, which used to be practiced at that time. The leader himself had established selecting criteria, as if he were God… Let us move to the current “old” ones of the DP. This group included people who had given contributions, especially founders of the Democratic Party. In a free concept, those who create a party are its “owners”, as it happens in the case of a business.  But these “youngsters” tell the founders of the “business”: “Out you go now!”. They nationalize like they do in the era of communism. The lack of a bourgeoisie concept for politics, gives them leeway to change the symbols of the party without asking anyone and without a decision.

What about another? And another? There are many like these ones. During these days of war within the DP you will hear how communism is manifested hour after hour and day after day. You will hear and you will not be surprised.

But sometimes, I think of the philosopher Jostein Gaarder. He used to speak with an 11 year old child and he used to tell him about “rebirth”.  “Can a person be reborn!?”, the child asked. “A person cannot”, the philosopher said. “Culture, ancient art can”. “What is this?”, the child asked again. “What is this?”, whispered the philosopher. “A horse is reborn, a man is formed”, the philosopher told to the child.

It’s true that we were born in communism, but didn’t we have enough time to separate from the “horse”?
