First came the word?...

This one that we saw today was not from the Bible, but it was the hot front of the elections. Only the high temperature of this summer day could be considered as biblical. The streets of the country seemed to gasp from the African heat; the lungs of survival had shut themselves at home, some homes with air conditioning, and some homes without, but all of them cooler than the streets of the country.

Today, people chose to stay at home and not head to polling stations, but this was not only due to the heat.

Today the country held parliamentary elections to decide on the government that will lead for the next four years. During the whole time, “gladiators” too were only thinking of the loss and not the victory. By announcing a premature victory, political leaders were in fact manifesting the fear of loss. A media exit poll which was announced as soon as polling stations closed, in essence manifested everyone’s loss.

But how can everyone be a loser?

So, according to the exit poll which was announced immediately after 8 pm by Ora News, the Socialist Party wins 71 seats, but this, in itself, is a loss. If one party manages to win power on its own, then we would contradict ourselves, because we’ve constantly protested against the government’s arrogance. The world would consider us “hypocrites” if we vote one party, because we complained about the arrogance of a concentrated majority. We also have a very notorious legacy from communism which kept us under control for five decades. If we, once again, vote a single party, they will accuse us of “liking” the dictate exerted by one party.

If this turns out to be true, all other parties, besides the Socialist Party, move to opposition. This way, the same scene as the one at the start of political pluralism, when everyone was against the communist nomenclature, would emerge. In 1991 an unstable parliament was formed, because this parliament came out of an election which favored the party in power. The fear of repetition is the fear of the loss of stability of the country. Could one single party be able to face the entire opposition and the entire discontent of the people accumulated for four years?!

The dilemmas also seem to be “biblical”, but from our national Bible of the power of dictate.

It seems that the first one that has emerged above water after the closing of the polling stations, is loss. The others are concealed in figures and ballot boxes.

Above all, the loss of the voters is what’s clear. The news given by CEC for a low turnout in the elections, coincides with the lowest figure in history, only 43,8%. After this, we cannot speak of winners, even if a party wins 100 seats. All 140 seats that come out of the elections with less than half of the voters, are unelected MPs. From an incriminated parliament we’re moving to a parliament which was not elected by a majority of voters.

If we dare to have a parliament with a minority of voters, than this could be called a “junta”, a “quisling government” and “tyranny”…

Given that neither tyranny, nor the junta could survive in the century and the content that we’re in, even the parliament that will come out from this minority, will be unstable.

At least this is a fact that we know so far: Citizens of the country have avoided the political class power. Minority turnout in the polls is a civil challenge; everything else falls. We have Lost.

This comes first… The other victories have no value.
