Albania has fewer banks than the region per capita, IMF says
Although it now has a consolidated banking system with significant profits, Albania is behind the countries of the region as far as coverage of the population is concerned.

According to the International Monetary Fund, in 2016, our country had the lowest number of bank branches per 100 thousand residents.

So, according to the IMF, last year, Albania had 21.9 bank branches per 100 thousand residents, leaving only Kosovo behind.

Meanwhile, FYROM has 24.7 bank branches per 100 thousand residents, while Serbia has 29.6 bank branches per 100 thousand residents.
