The three windows that had remained opened and in which the wind of the ‘90s blew
First
Political cultural difference between the political force that was born in 1990 and named Democratic Party and the existing communist political force, which in 1990 was overthrown and was thought that it would no longer rise in its feet: The political culture of the new force consisted on the freedom of speech, freedom of economy, freedom of religion, movement and individual rights. This culture not only didn’t exist in the previous political force, but it was also punished by prison and death.
Little by little, the Democratic Party surrendered its weapons, because power was held by particular individuals and forms of a culture which didn’t belong to this party were used. Among the last was the violation of the rights of democrat “slaves” by chairman Basha, who used the voters of democracy, by putting them in a slaves’ tent and by selling the moral value of the DP to the political opponent, who originated from the political force that was thrown from power in 1990. The last act: The DP didn’t only insult those 200 people who were in the tent on a day basis, but left everyone without an opposition.
After this, no more differences were seen between the DP and the old party that established and developed dictatorship in Albania. Then there came the moment when the “dictatorship party” was promoted like the party of freedoms and leapt one step ahead of the party of democracy. At this moment, a minister who was responsible of the violence used during the communist dictatorship, managed to be elected as Assembly speaker or president no. 2 of the Republic. The moment when the minister of the dictatorship was elected as Assembly speaker, everything that has happened since the ‘90’s was reversed. That era ends here. Immediately after World War II, Europe’s advanced nations, starting with the Germans, decided to put big barriers and not allow Hitler’s supporters come to power. This was done in order not to go back in time and not to close the door of another era which was opened at that time.
This era ended here.
The second window
During its life, the Democratic Party has done everything against itself and in the end, the DP managed to destroy DP. When those few democrats who were still the backbone of the Democratic Party, were left out of the structures, people said that they were rebelling for their own interests. Even the group which is paid by the DP leader, said the same thing. But at this point, I’ve seen the moment when the DP has started to merge with the SP or the former Labor Party. Communism doesn’t recognize values and the contribution of the individual, while democracy is completely different. Even when they attacked Pashko, Hajdari and others, this is what happened, but at that time, the DP was still strong and it couldn’t yet fall, but now…
The Democratic Party and its chairman, Basha, put the lock on the gate of political pluralism. The party of the ‘90’s no longer exists. Chairman Basha made a secret pact to govern with the former communists. There’s still an ongoing deal to do everything together. This was seen when the DP voted as Assembly speaker the former minister of the period of the dictatorship regime. To make its action even more criminal, the DP ordered three MPs to offer their votes to the opponent and this is what happened. Basha himself voted Ruçi in Parliament and after he voted, he came out in the square and joined the victims of dictatorship to offer a show against…
The citizens of Albania no longer have an opposition-this era has come to an end.
The third window
After 28 years, the Democratic Party is lost know. It doesn’t know where it’s going. In 1990, it was the DP that oriented the country toward the conservative West.
In the past three decades, the West embraced two ideas.
The first one was the line of the old, demagogic and manipulative governments, which were known as liberal elites (almost leftist). Pope Francis himself has called it the anarchist socialism.
The second line clearly appeared after Brexit in Britain, where citizens of the United Kingdom could not cohabit with governments of words and no action of the EU. This followed the powerful rise of the conservative populists with the election of the US president, Donald Trump.
The West finds itself between two governing streams. The first stream belongs to the leftists, who also govern in our country. The rightists of the West were hoping to see the DP become a rightist party and support conservatism in this corner of Europe. The DP deceived even western conservatism. It became part of the system, helped Soros’ people snatch power and rejected Trump’s doctrine.
This is a closed door not only for a party. In 1990, the new west gate opened up for a nation. That chapter is closed now.
