Minister of Interior received by EU commissioner Avramopoulos

Yesterday, Albanian Interior minister, Fatmir Xhafaj was received in a meeting by the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos.

During this meeting, the EU commissioner said that “Albania is an important factor for the stability of the region. It is a good neighboring country of my country and in the future, it will be a member of the European family”.

Avramopoulos expressed his conviction that cooperation should continue in the future. “We’re here today to work together, in order to address all issues that Albania needs to address to become an EU member. We are committed to intensify our cooperation in order to achieve this. I shall continue to support Albania in its EU integration path”, Avramopoulos declared.

On the other hand, the commissioner congratulated the Albanian government on the measures that have been taken and the results achieved in the fight against the cultivation of cannabis, integrated border management in order to stop illegal migration and to fight organized crime.

Meanwhile, minister Xhafaj considered commissioner Avramopoulos as a good friend of the Albanian people and pointed out the fact that he has offered extraordinary support for Albanians in the issue of their integration.
